A former London police officer of Filipino descent, Karen Maria Eduarte was first recruited by the Foundation shortly after leaving law enforcement, placing her simultaneously within Site 17's security and human resources division as an armed secretary. After demonstrating her combat prowess, job dissatisfaction, and a gross disregard for the safety of her coworkers, she was made the second-in-command of MTF Epsilon-5 "Red Dawn", led by Captain Dmitri Arkadeyevich Strelnikov. Ever since her transfer to Site 23, most of her field work assignments have been separate from those of the rest of the task force.
